I am sure everyone already knows Italy and how beautiful this country is. Italy is a place you need to visit and I am here to convince you to cross this vacation off your bucket list. Italy has everything you can imagine from amazing old cities with so much history to beautiful mountains to spectacular beaches and amazing shopping, it has something for everyone! There are countless reasons to go visit the beautiful city of Italy but I am going to let you in on the top 6.

1. Food

All the regions of Italy have their own specialties in the kitchen but no matter where you go you will always have amazing food! Italian cuisine is astonishing, from the millions of pasta options to the mouthwatering pizza; the best street food you have ever tasted and gelato stores on every street, you will never go hungry while visiting Italy. The wine there is amazing as well, they have massive vineyards as well as smaller more local vineyards that I recommend you go visit. Do not forget to order wine with your dinner every night!

2. Rome

Rome is a one of a kind city, you will never see another city quite like Rome. Wherever you go in Rome you will see plenty of monuments and historical ruins dispersed throughout the city. Rome is actually 2,500 years older than Italy! Rome is home to the colosseum and that is a must see, you are able to walk through the magnificent arena and walk back in history. You can also visit Vatican City and walk through the Vatican museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, walk through St Peter's square and visit the breathtaking Vatican garden.

3. Venice

Venice is full of life, has amazing churches, shopping and has a very unique history. While you are there you need to take a ride in a gondola and boat through the canals. The seafood in Venice is out of this world but while at dinner make sure you do not drink too much or you will get lost trying to find your way back to your hotel, trying to navigate through the winding streets and alleyways! If you decide to visit Venice the 2 weeks before Lent, you will get to experience carnivale, you can walk around the massive masked crowd and even attend a masquerade ball! You may want to visit Venice before it sinks into the ocean and turns into a snorkeling excursion!

4. The Dolomites

The Dolomites are beautiful mountains just 2 hours away from Venice. The Dolomites have something for everyone: you can cycle, hike or ride a cable car up to the top and take in the beautiful scenery. There are remnants of WWI everywhere, you can visit small museums and see artifacts from the war and learn how Italy gained control of them from the Austrians. My favourite part and it will probably be yours too, you can see tunnels built by the Italian troops and explore them as you hike!

5. The Art

Italy is home to many of the greatest artists. Florence has many wonderful galleries and some of Michelangelo’s greatest statues but anywhere you go in Italy you find yourself staring at the beautiful artwork everywhere. There is fantastic art all over the country, every church you walk into you will see amazing art. If you are in Milan you need to see the painting of the Last Supper and you need to visit the Sistine Chapel to see the Last Judgement.

6. The Beaches

The branches in Italy are a must see with the warm, clear waters and the beautiful sand. If you are in Rome and feel like you need a beach day, no problem, you can visit Sperlonga, a little beach town in the south of Rome. If you like unique beaches then the “Pink Beach” is perfect for you, with its light pink coloured sand. Or you could go to the Amalfi Coast and visit the wonderful beaches on their coastline. Cinque Terre is another city where you can find plenty of beaches and lots of colourful homes along the bright blue water.

After reading this I hope I have convinced you to visit Italy and where the best places you should visit are. Hope you enjoy your trip!
